Fragrant roses clothe the walls of these Elizabethan terraced gardens, which cascade down to the river Wye and offer views over the Peak District. Two of the five south-facing terraces have been transformed by celebrated designer Arne Maynard and feature wildflower meadow borders, topiary, roses, a knot garden and medicinal and dye plants from the 16th century.
