This pretty container display is a herald of summer, with its delicate blooms radiating a cottage-garden vibe.

The colour palette is simple, giving the whole display a coordinated feel, while the lavender emits a beautiful fragrance, and is attractive to bees, butterflies and other beneficial insects. Position the nicotiana and verbena at the front of the pot, using the lavender to form the backbone of the display. Follow our three easy steps, to create a fragrant verbena, nicotiana and lavender pot.

You Will Need

Lavandula angustifolia 'Royal Blue'
Nicotiana 'Apple Blossom' (3)
Verbena 'Peaches 'n' Cream' (3)

Step 1

Adding slow-release fertiliser to the compost

Fill the pot two-thirds full with multi-purpose compost and mix in slow-release fertiliser.

Step 2

Planting up the container

Add the plants one at a time, positioning the lavender first. Surround it with the flowers, mixed randomly.

Step 3

Watering the container

Water the container well, making sure the compost doesn’t dry out. Deadhead blooms as they fade.
