Monty Don explains how to identify silver leaf disease in a Portuguese laurel tree, pointing out the tell-tale symptoms. Then he gets out the pruning saw and demonstrates how to remove all the affected growth in order to try and save the tree. Summer is the best time to tackle this problem, as the warm dry conditions discourage the spread of silver leaf fungal spores.
