Brunnera macrophylla is the perfect plant for shady gardens. With mid-green, heart-shaped foliage and forget-me-not like blooms forming on tall stems, it's great for edging paths and mixing with other shade-tolerant plants, particularly in woodland borders.

Brunnera macrophylla 'Variegata' forms clumps of heart-shaped leaves splashed with cream-white and green. Sprays of bright blue forget-me-not flowers appear from mid-spring.

Grow Brunnera macrophylla 'Variegata' in moist but well-drained soil in partial shade. Keep out of direct sun, as the white leaf edges will scorch easily. Divide congested clumps in spring or take root cuttings in winter, but remove any plants showing signs of reverting to plain green leaves. Learn more in our Brunnera grow guide.
