Carex grayi is an attractive sedge with tufts of arching green leaves. In early summer it bears mid-green flowers, followed by pale green, star-shaped seedheads, which are very popular with flower arrangers.

It looks good grown towards the front of a border or among other plants, especially compact perennials and grasses. It also looks good grown at the edge of a pond.

For best results grow Carex grayi in moist soil in full sun to partial shade. Cut back foliage after flowering.
