Junipers are prostrate or erect evergreen shrubs or trees, of varying sizes. Their evergreen, aromatic foliage ranges from green and yellow to blue and grey. They are tolerant of most soils and conditions and are fully hardy. Both male and female plants are needed to produce berries on the female plant.

Juniperus recurva 'Castlewellan' forms a pyramidal shape and has eye-catching, drooping branches. The grey-green needles are striped white underneath. It’s a self-fertile species, which means that it produces black-purple berries. It will reach around 2m after 10 years, but can ultimately reach 15m high.
