Originally native to Turkey and Iran, there are now hundreds of different cultivars to choose from, with flowers in a wide range of different colours and forms.

Papaver orientale ‘Patty's Plum’ has large, blousy black-purple blooms, on strong stems. For best results, grow in well-drained soil in full sun. Cut back untidy foliage after flowering.
